LESSON PLAN YEAR 3

Topic:                               Animals and Us
Focus                                Listening and speaking
Learning Standards:       1.1.3   Able to listen to, say aloud and 
                                                    recite rhyme and sing song
                                                    paying attention to pronunciation, rhythm and intonation.
     1.1.4   Able to talk about a stimulus with guidance.
                                               
Objectives:                 By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
(i)                  make sounds of animals based on the picture with guidance.
(ii)                listen to and recite rhyme and sing songs with correct pronunciation and rhythm.
Cross-curricular elements / Educational emphases: ICT, Constructivism, Caring, Multiple Intelligences

Teaching Aids:  song, audio, pictures, PowerPoint
Steps:
Set Induction
Teacher shows a picture of farm animals.

Pre-Listening
2.       Show a picture of animals and ask for the sound.
e.g          picture of cat (meow)

While-Listening
3.       Pupils listen to the rhyme “Old Mc Donald”.
4.       Get pupils to sing along.
5.       Each group is provided with a picture of animal.
6.       The group present the picture in front of the class and sing the rhyme based on the picture.

Post-Listening
In groups, pupils look at a worksheet and match the animals to the sound.
7.       They present their answers orally to the class.
