Happy New Year

Howdy all…

I would like to take this opportunity to say Happy New Year 2012 to all over the world. 2011 has left us forever with bitter and sweet memories of 1001, success, failure, happiness, sadness. 


Ordinary life was bound to happen in any year at all, because we are just common people. We cannot afford to make our 365 days in a year to be filled with joy only and there's should be no sorrow too. 


Whatever the colour of this life we have to deal with the challenges that make us more  mature, courageous and independent. As the saying goes "Things that can not kill me makes me Stronger". 2012 is another year that we have to face. It is we who will shape our year with a strong determination and perseverance to get better or worse. 


Therefore, we have to work hard in achieving the ambitions of our own, and draw a little smile for the love ones. Last days let it be passed as history, as we travel very far ahead, maybe 100 miles, 1000 miles or 10 million miles to go! Continue to learn, share and guide the new generation for their bright future!

Reflection
After the lesson has been carried out, I felt that the pupils enjoyed the interactive activities in the lesson. They were captivated by the song. Then, their attentions are manipulated by the memory games. They were very excited and eager to guess the missing picture as the group with the highest points win. Next came in the match activity. Pupils were able to match the pictures to the months. The lesson progressed well towards the end as I also praised and guided them. I believed that children have their own self-esteems and I have to cater them with care, love and always motivate them. Most importantly, I must make and try to rouse their learning spirit to make them learn and love English.
“To err is human” this saying tunes in with my lesson. There are some weaknesses that I have to cater in order to make self improvement for my lesson. Firstly, I must give simple and clear instructions during the lesson. Instructions are like the key to carry out the activities. Therefore, once again I must try my best to master the questioning skills to make the pupils begin the activity in smooth progress. Even though the pupil enjoyed the song, actually the sound was not loud enough. I should bring computer’s speakers instead of using the laptop’s speakers to overcome this matter. Next, even though I have been teaching for almost eight years, the nervous and butterflies in the stomach are still in me. This is because I have to teach in front of the camera man. The nervousness has made me saying the words incorrectly, losing some words when I need them badly and slip of the tongue. However, I manage to overcome my feeling when the lesson going on. It is just that as we tend to have inferiority complex in us. My pupils also tended to answer and speak in Malay during the lesson and I forgot to remind them to speak In English. I should be more aware in the future. My time management was slightly running too.
Hence, I hope to overcome these matters in future so that I can do and perform well in the teaching and learning process. In connection with the teacher’s day theme this year “Guru Penjana Transformasi Pendidikan Negara” we as teachers should used Information Technology (IT) as an essential part of learning. By using Information Technology in classrooms as a teaching tool and it will be one of the strategies to attract students' attention when the teaching and learning process is going on. As we know, IT is the most popular and one of the important sources to get information in such a simple way. Teachers can use IT to help their students to explore the topic that has been taught by the teacher in the class. Teaching and learning will be a lot more fun if teachers use computer in the classrooms. Teachers can play a short video as a start to catch the attentions of pupils, or design slide shows that come with animation to explain whatever knowledge or theory. Computer is a valuable tool, but only in the hands of a knowledgeable.

The moment I showed them the files of their favourite cartoons and games such as Mickey Mouse, Pooh, Spiderman, Spongebob Squarepant and Angry Bird, I managed to steal their attentions.
